Ideas to shop around
Directions rather than one particular thing, for when you’d rather choose. Some come with a few that fit.
Pick a console
Still a great value in 2026, mostly bought refurbished. The PS4 Slim (500GB or 1TB) is the standard model: smaller, quieter, 1080p games. The PS4 Pro is the stronger one: it runs many games at higher resolution and smoother frame rates and supports 4K output, so it pays off on a 4K TV. Neither plays PS5-only games. Look for Renewed units from sellers with a return window.
